Mosquitoes Control

Mosquito

Adult Mosquitoes are slender, long-legged, two-winged insets. Their wings , legs and most of the other parts of their body are covered with scales. They also have long proboscis (mouthparts) for piercing and sucking blood. But only female mosquitoes are suck blood. A blood meal is required before can lay fertile eggs. Blood is the source of protein for yolk production in the ovarioles.

Mosquitoes undergo complete 4 successive, structurally difference stages of development (Egg => Larva => Pupa => Adult). The first 3 stages are aquatic.

The three common mosquito species in Singapore are:

  • 1) Aedes
  • 2) Culex
  • 3) Anopheles

They are transmit extremely such as malaria, yellow fever, dengue fever, dengue haemorrhagic fever, Japanese encephalitis, Zika virus and other arboviruses, rendering it the deadliest animal family in the world.

Mosquito Control

Generally there are 4 types of mosquito control.

  • 1) Environmental Control
  • 2) Biological Control
  • 3) Chemical Control
  • 4) Non Chemical Control

1) Enviromental Control

Environmental manipulation to render the environment unsuitable for mosquito to breed harbour or lay eggs. It can be temporary or permanent. Examples include:

  • Dispose unwanted container
  • Construct surface drainage
  • Construct sub soil drainage
  • Fill ground excavations and tree holes
  • Mosquito proof with fine mesh netting
  • Remove harbourages sites
  • Flush away stagnant water
  • Modify salinity

2) Biological Control

Larvivorous fishes such as guppy, mosquito fish, tilapia and fighting fish can be used in jars and ornamental ponds or fountains.

3) Chemical Control

Chemical control such as larviciding, insecticides and adulticides.

  • Larviciding such as AM oil and Flit MLO
  • Insecticides such as abate and malathion
  • Adulticides such as residual spray, Thermal fogging, misting, aerosol spray and fumigation.

4) Non Chemical Control

Apply non chemical mosquito repellent, UV Lamp Repeller and mosquito traps at entire unit.

Rodents Control

pest

Rodent are mammals with extra-large front teeth or incisors. Rats and mice are primarily nocturnal creatures. Their eyes are adapted for night vision. Rats and mice are good swimmers. They are able to swim lip through floor drains and toilet bowl traps. Roof rats and house mice are good climbers. The Norway rat(also known as sewer or brown rat) can climb quite well when necessary. Rats can jump nearly 60cm vertically, 1.3m horizontally and reach upward about 46cm.

Rats and mice are the most destructive vertebrates on earth towards human property as their constant gnawing cause serious damages to household items, equipment, machinery parts, wires and cables.

They are transmitting human diseases such as plague, murine typhus, rat bite fever, leptospiriosis.

The 4 common rodent species in Singapore are,

  1. Norway rat(also known as brown/sewer rat)
  2. Roof rat
  3. Little mouse rat
  4. House mouse

Rodent control

Generally there are 4 types of rodent control.

  1. Environmental Control
  2. Biological Control
  3. Chemical Control
  4. Non Chemical Control

1) Environmental Control

Environmental sanitation basically involves good housekeeping proper storage of food, proper handling of food wastes and the eliminatation of harbourage places for rats.

  • All food stuff or animal feed should be stored in tightly covered containers or in rodent-proof rooms.
  • Any spillage of food on the floor should be removed and disposed of immediately.
  • Food wastes and garbage should be bagged, tied and disposed into refuse bins which should be covered tightly.
  • Unwanted boxes, crates, wooden planks, bricks, furniture, etc. should be disposed of and not stored haphazardly.
  • Food stuff should be stored orderly on shelves or pallets at least 50cm above ground.
  • All crevices and structural defects that provides entry point into buildings and harbourage ground for rats should be sealed.
  • Overgrown vegetation near food shops and warehouse should be trimmed. Tree branches which provide rodent easy access to roofs should be severed.
  • Avoid planting low thick shrubs which provides harbourage.

2) Biological Control

The presence of natural enemies of rodent such as,

  • Snakes
  • Owls
  • Eagles
  • Mongooses

3) Chemical Control

Rodenticide can be applied in the form of baiting, dusts, water formulations and fumigation. The chemicals are carefully prepared and applied professionally with extra care due to the toxic nature of the chemicals towards humans and non targeted animals.

4) Non Chemical Control

Setting up of trapping tools such as cage traps and glue traps are used in this method.

Our Rodent Control

At PestGo Management Pte Ltd, our pest experts are fully trained, licensed professionals with knowledge of the habits and life cycle of rodents. Effective training enable us to treat and get rid of rodents as effective as possible.

Inspection and Treatment

Our licensed professional pest management operator will search and survey around entire premise for rodent entry point, harbourage and their colony areas.

Once the survey is completed, our licensed professional pest management operator will design and execute appropriate treatment program to eliminate the rodents. Methods such as setting up baits, laying traps, dusting and setting up monitoring stations and system are our ways of treatments.

Termites Control

pest

There are 3 different of termite treatment, liquid, baits & Termiticide powder. Soil-applied liquid termiticides have been around for decades. Their purpose is to provide a long-lasting chemical barrier that excludes termites in the ground from entering buildings.

Installing of Baiting system is a simple process, it can be used preventively to detect termites where they are not yet a problem or after infestation.

Bedbugs Control

pest

To exterminate these pests, a thorough inspection will be conducted to locate the infestation of these pest and also its eggs and their habitat. These process will take a longer time as we are ever more cautious so as to not overlook any spots that they could be living in. After inspection, we have serveral treatments available.

  • Misting - Water-based treatment which eliminates these insects and leaves a effect that lasts for 3 months.
  • Steaming - Steam is very effective when bed bugs are on the surface of items and can be effective up to 3/4" into fabric surfaces. In cracks and crevices, steam will kill bed bugs up to 2-3/8" into a gap.
  • Gassing/fumigation - In a controlled environment, the gas replaces the oxygen, causing bed bugs and their eggs to suffocate and die.

Bee, Wasps & Hornet Control

pest pest pest

Bees, wasps and hornets nests represents a high risk when its near residential areas, hospitals or those that are allergic to their stings.

Bees may come in wide range of colors: metallic red, black, blue, green or copper. Usually no distinctive spots or bands are present. Their length ranges from 8.5mm to 17mm. Serveral bee species build their nests in the soil and are most commonly found in soils with sparse - moderate plant growth and good drainage.

There are 4 common species of bees in Singapore,

  1. Asian Honey Bee
  2. Dwarf Honey Bee
  3. European Honey Bee
  4. Giant Honey Bee

Most bee stings aren't deadly however it poses great threat when in numbers as they can cause bee poisoning or when people has allergy reactions to their stings.

Wasps are neither bees, or ants, they are similar to hornets.
Hornets can be up to 4 or 5 cm long. its wings are reddish-orange, its abdomen are orange with brown stripes. Hornets' nest are commonly found in sheltered places such as tree trunks, brushes, sides of buildings, hollow walls, etc. Both Wasps and Hornets nests are grey and paper-like as they are unable to produce wax, therefore they make use of mud to build their nests.

There are 3 species of hornets in Singapore,

  1. Greater Banded Hornet (Vespa Tropica)
  2. Lesser Banded Hornet (Vespa Affinis)
  3. Yellow-Vented Hornet (Vespa Analis)

A hornet colony can reach a size of 700 workers. its sting is painful to humans and they can bite and sting at the same time. They are able to mobilize the entire nest to attack their threat in the name of self defense which is highly dangerous to humans. However, they only sting when provoked.

Our Bees, Wasps and Hornets Control

At PestGo Management Pte Ltd, our pest experts are fully trained, licensed professionals with knowledge of the behaviours and dangers of these flying insects. Effective training enable us to treat and get rid of these pests as effective as possible.

Search and Destroy

Our licensed professional pest management operator will search around the proximity to locate to nests of these dangerous pests.
Once the nests are found our technicians will prepare to spray chemicals to eliminate these pests.
After ensuring that there are no further activities in the nests, our technicians will then proceed in removing the nests and disposing of it appropriately.

Snakes Removal

pest

There are numerous possible situations when dealing with snakes, as most of the time the snake will be gone when our technician has reached the site. If the snake is still there, our technician will capture it and remove it from the site and a search around the proximity will be carried out by our technicians in search of more snakes as it may have been a habitat for snakes.

In most cases, the snake will not be there when our technicians have arrived on site. However our technicians will then conduct a search & destroy for the snake and it's nest. Due to the behaviour of snakes, the snake may just be passing by the area and may not be captured.

In such situations, our technicians will prepare and laid chemical that acts as a barrier to prevent snakes from entering the area.

Flies Control

Flies are closely associated with man and domestic dwellings. Flies are active in daylight in artificial light. They are passive at night. They gather around feeding and breeding sources. Adult flies are small to medium-sized, two-winged insects. They are usually dull-coloured.

Flies are unhealthy to us as they transmits diseases such as,

  • Food poisoning (Chlorera, Typhoid, Salmonellosis, etc.)
  • Eye diseases (Trachoma)
  • Skin diseases (Yaws)

The common fly species in Singapore are,

  • Housefly
  • Blue-bottle fly
  • Fruit fly
  • Sewage fly
  • Flesh fly

CONTROLLING

There are 4 methods on Fly control

  1. Environmental Control
  2. Biological Control
  3. Chemical Control
  4. Non Chemical Control

1) Environmental Control

  • Regular removal of Garbage
  • Regular removal of animal excrement
  • Regular removal of waste water
  • Mechanical proofing

2) Biological Control

This involves the use of pathogens parasites and predators to kill the fly eggs, larvae, pupae or adults. eg mites, wasps.

3) Chemical Control

Pesticides such as Residual spray, baiting, misting and fumigation.

4) Non Chemical Control

Non chemical control such as trapping, non chemical repellent, UV light trap
